The Juarez-Lincoln Huskies are one win away from making their first state semifinal since 2017.

This year, it didn't always seem the team would make it to this point. It wasn't the typical regular season that the Huskies boys soccer program has become accustomed to. After winning eight straight district title titles prior to this season, the team only finished third in the district this year.

Huskies head coach Victor Ramos says the tough regular season was a wakeup call for his team.

"We saw that we needed to start working harder, and have the discipline, and motivation," Ramos said. "Sometimes, whenever you're winning, and winning, and everything is going your way, you don't see a lot of aspects of improvement. So, that's what happened this year... It was a wakeup call, but at the same time it was the opportunity to work harder."

Despite their incredible district title run, making it past this round of the postseason hasn't come easy for Juarez-Lincoln. They're hopeful that the unusual path to this round will lead to their fortune changing this time around.

"It's always the goal to get there every year," Ramos added. "We've been close. Every year were at least in the regional quarterfinals. It hurts. It hurts when you don't get there, so we've very excited and very blessed. We're gonna take advantage of the opportunity and try to win this game."

The game is set to start at 6:00 p.m. in San Antonio against Liberty Hill.
