MCALLEN – The man behind the book “Stories from Texas” is a Rio Grande Valley professor who started out telling stories on the radio.

W.F. Strong began telling "Stories from Texas" on KMBH Radio in Harlingen.

He says within a year and a half he received a call from the Texas Standard wanting him to record his stories.

He records his stories at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Brownsville, where he is a communications professor.
