Pharr Police Department discusses latest efforts as part of Operation Slow Down
Expect to see more police officers on the road over the next two weeks thanks to a new campaign. The Pharr Police Department is among the agencies taking part in Operation slow down, an effort to reduce the number of crashes.
This is the second year Pharr police participates in this statewide campaign, as more accidents and crashes happen during the summer, according to the department.
Last year, 730 accidents were reported in the city.
Under the campaign, if those who are stopped by police for speeding could get a ticket and fine pf up to $300.
