Cameron County is making some changes to Beach Access #3.

The beach access is currently closed as crews prepare to renovate the area.

As part of the upgrades, crews will tear down the current dune walkover and build a new one. Handicapped parking spaces will also be added as part of phase one of the project.

“Phase two of the big project consists of a new pavilion,” Cameron County Parks Director Joe Vega said. “It also consists of new restrooms, it's gonna consist of more permeable parking as well.”

Beach Access 3 will be closed for six to eight months to complete the project’s first phase.

Construction is set to begin on Monday, Dec. 2.
