EDINBURG – The Edinburg police chief says the suspect involved in the shooting of a Department of Public Safety trooper opened fire on Edinburg officers.

The shooting happened Saturday night.

Police Chief Cesar Torres says the suspect, Victor Godinez, was arrested after Godinez opened fire on Edinburg police officers.

No officers were hit in that exchange.
