HARLINGEN – The trial date for a Harlingen woman accused of killing a motorcyclist while allegedly intoxicated is set for March.

Taylor Nicole Ramirez is currently out on bond, but a judge set several conditions that she must follow in order to remain free until trial.

The 23-year-old woman is accused of hitting 29-year-old motorcyclist David Salinas with her vehicle, which authorities say, ultimately killed him. The accident happened in September at the intersection of Loop 499 and Grimes Street in Harlingen.

Harlingen police said she was drunk at the wheel and is charged with intoxication manslaughter.

She’s been out on bond.

In court on Thursday, Ramirez told State District Judge Janet Leal that she is currently at an in-house rehabilitation center and doesn’t have a car.

Leal is allowing Ramirez to remain on bond pending several conditions. The vehicle which she has access to, which would be her mother’s car, must have an interlock device. The equipment acts like a breathalyzer machine and will keep the vehicle from starting if alcohol is detected in the driver’s system.

Prosecutors also asked the judge to prohibit Ramirez from going to bars, including a bar they say she works at. The judge granted the request and is also prohibiting Ramirez from sitting at the bar side at restaurants.

She also has a daily curfew of 10 p.m.

Ramirez must follow the conditions in order to remain out on bond. The trial is set for March, with announcements on March 23 and trial the following day.

The judge also told the attorney since that trial is still a few months away, everything needs to be in order by then because she will not push back the start of the trial.
