LOS INDIOS – A shooting in Tamaulipas that left two people dead ended at a Rio Grande Valley port of entry.

Tamaulipas authorities are saying the shooting happened Tuesday on the Mexican side of the Los Indios International Bridge in the late afternoon.

A Mexican customs employee was found dead. In an image obtained by CHANNEL 5 NEWS, his body is shown face-down beside a white Grand Prix vehicle in Tamaulipas. He was shot in the head and died at the scene, according to Mexican authorities.

Two other people were also shot in the incident, but they were taken in a different vehicle to the U.S.

A 9-1-1 call was placed around 5:40 p.m. by an unknown caller requesting help, according to South Texas Emergency Care, or STEC.

A second image shows a victim with a gunshot wound to the head but still alive in the bloodied car parked in the Customs and Border Protection facility.

STEC arrived and reported both victims were still alive. They were taken to Valley Baptist Medical. The man with the gunshot wound to the head died on U.S. soil. The second victim had a gunshot wound to the torso and was sent to the hospital in critical condition.

Los Indios Police Chief Jose de la Rosa says they showed up to assist.

He says, "In this case, we’re not doing any investigation, because [CBP] Customs is taking over that investigation. We’re just there for first aid and helping EMS."

The victim on the Mexican side was identified by authorities, but are not yet aware of the identity of the other two.

No investigation is being carried out U.S. authorities. FBI spokesperson commented they cannot investigate the incident involving people who are not U.S. citizens as it is out of their jurisdiction.

CBP explained in a statement they cannot give information on the processing of an individual.

An investigation is underway in Tamaulipas.
