Rio Hondo Bridge Now Open after Being Shut Down for 2 Years

RIO HONDO – The Rio Hondo Bridge is now open after being shut down for two years.
The bridge shut down in September of 2016 due to the need for repairs.
The closure affected many nearby businesses.
“The bridge was in very poor shape,” says City Commissioner Jerry Hartzog. “TxDOT would come out and patch it. The bridge was also lifting at an improper angle.”
KRGV’s Sierra Pizarro made a visit to the bridge to see the improvements made.
