PHARR – Pharr officials say the new communications center will cut down on 9-1-1 response times.
Right now, the 9-1-1 dispatch and emergency operations center handles police, fire and emergency medical service emergencies from three separate buildings making dispatch times longer.
That will all change with the new state-of-the-art center.
”We won't transfer fire to another fire building; we won't transfer EMS to an outside EMS agency. All of our services will be done here, so when you call 9-1-1, we'll be able to take the call and dispatch those services,” explained Daniel Ramirez, director of communications and emergency management operations.
The cutting edge facility will not just serve the city of Pharr, it’ll also benefit surrounding areas during natural disasters.
