LOS FRESNOS – The Falcons are excited about working on their skills this late in the season. It’s the first time in school history Los Fresnos is in the regional quarterfinals.
“You know our program is getting better,” said coach Rene Morales. “It’s big for us to get to the third round. The last two years, we’ve gotten to the second round and gotten beat. These kids, they put their mind to it and we’re enjoying every minute of it.”
“We’re fired up,” said senior Cristian Hernandez. “We’ve been playing together since we were 11, 12 years old. It feels amazing moving on to the third round with the same group of guys.”
To get to this point, the Falcons had to go to a third game in their first two series. Against Mission in the area round, they avoided eliminate twice after losing game 1 to the Eagles.
“It teaches us to never give up, keep going,” said senior Victor Montemayor. “It’s a new day every day. Keep working hard.”
“We’re not somebody that’s scared of a deficit,” said senior Hugo Sanchez. “We know we have the ability to come back and get big wins.”
First pitch for the Falcons’ best-of-three series with Vela is Thursday at 7pm at PSJA. The second game of the series is Friday night at 7pm in Los Fresnos. If necessary, a third game would be Saturday at 2pm at PSJA.
