He was formerly based in McAllen.
James Patrick Burke, 39, pleaded guilty last year to access with intent to view child pornography.
Burke was charged after his McAllen home was searched in 2015. Authorities confiscated two computers.
Burke worked at the DEA’s office in McAllen for two years when he was arrested.
In addition to the seven years in prison, he must also pay $4,000 in restitution to a known victim.
