Weslaco Police Identify Victim in Crash Linked to Homicide Investigation
WESLACO – Police identified the victim involved in a deadly crash turned murder investigation in Weslaco.
Officials say before the crash 59-year-old Dr. John Dominguez was held at gunpoint in an attempted aggravated robbery, caught on surveillance camera in the area of Utah Avenue.
The video released by Weslaco police shows the moment Dominguez backed out in a white vehicle in a parking lot.
Immediately, a black car pulls up, blocking Dominguez from driving forward. A man wearing a blue jacket and red hat gets out of the black vehicle on the passenger’s side and points a gun at Dominguez’s car.
The suspect then tried to open the door, then started hitting the window before Dominguez drove away.
Moments later on Business 83 and Garza Ave, police say Dominguez swerved into incoming traffic and hit an SUV head on.
