Mandatory stage two water restrictions are now in effect in the city of Mission.

Under the water restrictions, residents are asked to not water between the hours of 7 a.m. through 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. through 6 p.m.

Those caught violating the restrictions can be fined up to $200.

More information on the water restrictions can be found here.

A water conservation and drought contingency plan was also enacted for Sharyland Water Supply Corporation customers.

According to a news release from the SWSC, the water conservation is in response to low water levels in the Falcon and Amistad reservoirs that supply water to the entire Rio Grande Valley.

Under these restrictions, customers are asked to limit water usage between the hours of midnight through 10 a.m.

More information on the restrictions can be found here in English or in Spanish.
