The UTRGV men's soccer team is off to an impressive start, staying undefeated with two wins and a draw in the first three matches of the 2026 season. 

The Vaqueros are coming off a 5-nil win at South Florida. Junior forward Elias Taj netted two goals and tallied two assists in that game, earning him national honors as the Offensive Player of the Week by College Soccer News and National Team of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer.

"I think over these last two weeks we grown a lot," Taj said. "We struggled a little bit in the final third against Stetson, but I think these last two weeks that we haven't been playing and only training, I think we've grown a lot offensively and really focused on that as well. The final aspect, of course, soccer is about scoring goals and I think we really executed that well on Sunday."

UTRGV will stay on the road as the team prepares to take on Oral Roberts next Tuesday. The first whistle is set for 7:00 p.m. in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
