Police Chief: San Benito High School Coach Arrested Again
SAN BENITO - The Mercedes Police Department arrested a high school coach on Tuesday.
Officers arrested Jacob G. Gonzalez, 33, of Weslaco, a coach at San Benito High School, on Tuesday morning, according to Mercedes police Chief Dagoberto Chavez.
Officers had arrested Gonzalez in December on the charge of possession of less than 1 gram of a controlled substance. Gonzalez is now accused of leaking information about a police investigation, Chavez said.
In a statement released after his initial arrest, the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District said it doesn't comment on personnel matters. The district website lists a "Jacob Gonzalez" as a football coach.
