More Than 400 Take Oath to Become Americans
MCALLEN – In one big ceremony, more than 400 people from around the world took an oath that will forever change their lives.
The room was full; every seat was taken. Some friends and family had to watch the ceremony on a giant TV screen in an adjacent room.
New Americans received their U.S. flag and their certificate declaring them American citizens.
“We thank you for reminding us that we want to be Americans and we are Americans because we are a country of opportunity and freedom and equality for everyone," said Judge Ricardo Hinojosa, the presiding judge.
