WESLACO – Both Hidalgo and Cameron counties were declared federal disaster zones following major flooding that took place in June.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is urging affected residents to apply for assistance.
KRGV’s Cecilia Gutierrez explains the registration process.
Flood victims can register with FEMA online or call 1-800-621-3362.
You will need your social security number, phone number, address of damaged home and insurance information. A nine-digit pin will be given after registering.
An inspector will then call to schedule an appointment to survey the damage in the home. Pictures of the damage will also come in handy during the inspection.
Watch the video above for step-by-step information on how to apply.
