WESLACO – An 11-year-old boy from Florida honored the life of a 7-year-old Harlingen honorary officer who lost her battle with cancer this week.

Zechariah Cartledge runs a mile for every first responder who has lost their lives in the line of duty but will have a special run for Officer Abigail Arias.

In July, Abigail was sworn in as an honorary police officer in Harlingen, as well as in other departments across Texas.

When she was 4 years old, Abigail was diagnosed with Wilms tumor.

Zechariah has run for fallen Rio Grande Valley officers Cpl. Jose “Speedy” Espericueta and Trooper Moises Sanchez this year.
