7-Year-Old Battling Cancer Sworn in as Honorary Harlingen Police Officer
HARLINGEN - A special day for a special girl; Abigail Arias just turned seven last week, for the past two years she’s been battling Wilms tumor.
She has a cancer her parents were told there was no cure for back in November.
Ruben Arias is the proud father of Harlingen’s newest police officer Abigail Arias.
"When we get to do stuff like this and see her smile. For that moment we forget the reality of what we face every day and it’s beautiful and it’s amazing," he says.
Stopping the bad guys is why Abigail wants to wear the badge.
The family made a six hour trip from Anglton to Harlingen to make the swearing ceremony possible.
