Authorities Identify Driver Killed after Crashing into San Benito Canal

SAN BENITO – A crash in San Benito claimed the life of a man Monday night.

It happened approximately at 7:07 p.m. on Hudson Road near Sam Houston Boulevard.

The Department of Public Safety identified the driver as 55-year-old Ubence Ruben Hernandez of McAllen.

Hernandez occupied the brown Ford truck that was traveling west on Hudson Road when he missed a curve and drove into a canal.

The 55-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS continues to investigate.
