Catholic Charities: Respite center at capacity
A humanitarian group housing migrants in the Rio Grande Valley says their respite center is at capacity.
Sister Norma Pimentel, executive director of the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, said they’re trying to address the capacity issue by opening up more space.
The organization helps migrants released to them find a place to stay.
“We're building up capacity by opening up this space… but also other spaces that are made available so that we can really make sure we have enough places where we can receive families, so they don't become homeless, and we can assist them to move forward to their final destination.” Sister Pimentel said.
Pimentel added that the respite center added more staff and purchased more supplies, but are in need of donations of essential items such as clothes, diapers and hygiene products.
