Cameron County commissioners voted to raise the daily beach user fee from $12 to $15.

The new rate applies to all county beach access areas.

"Expenses have gone up. The last time we did an increase was in 2019. In order to offset the increase in expenses, that was the reason that the increase was voted on," Cameron County Parks Director Jose Vega said.

The county says those expenses cover beach maintenance, trash pickup, equipment, boardwalks, and dune walkovers.

Veteran rates, annual passes, and 30-day fees will stay the same.
