3-Phase Project Underway to Replace Transmission Poles at South Padre Island
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – Outages continuing on South Padre Island nearly 24 hours after storms knocked out power.
The damage so bad the governor declared Cameron County a disaster.
More than 30 transmission poles were toppled in the storm. Utility crews spent Monday rerouting power to some homes and businesses.
Before the storm hit, there was already a three-phase project set to replace the transmission poles, switching out the wooden poles with metal ones.
It’s just going to take a few years to get it done.
