ROMA – Officials from U.S. and Mexico are working together to save the 90-year-old Roma suspension bridge.

The bridge has been part of the city since it was built in 1928 and it’s currently in the stages of decay.

Once a year, a group walks from city hall to the bridge. And every year officials and citizens from both Roma and Miguel Aleman meet in the middle of the new concrete bridge to confirm their efforts to bring the suspension bridge back to life.

The goal is to turn it into a pedestrian bridge as a tourist attraction. Texas has allocated $1.2 million for the project. But the delay is in getting Mexico to make a final commitment.
