EDINBURG – Fifteen people plead not guilty to illegal voter fraud charges.
They’re accused of participating in an illegal voting scheme tied to Edinburg’s 2017 city election.
A visiting judge from Corpus Christi presided over Thursday’s arraignments in the 92nd District Court, calling each one by one; and one by one – all plead not guilty.
Each was charged with illegal voting, except Areceli Gutierrez, she’s also facing one count of engaging in organized election fraud.
All of them are accused of changing their address to the city of Edinburg to vote in the 2017 city election when they didn’t actually live in the city.
But there were some different cases.
