Valley advocacy group braces for spike in child abuse cases as schools remain closed

WESLACO – Shelter-in-place order are taking a toll on children who are victims of abuse. Many will be stuck at home while schools remain closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Due to countywide orders, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Hidalgo County, or CASA, is having a hard time supporting abuse victims.
The advocacy group is bracing for a potential spike in child abuse cases. Children stuck at home could mean more torment.
