UTRGV baseball set for matchup with #1 Texas on Tuesday night

The UTRGV baseball team is heading to Austin for a battle with the new #1 team in the country.
The Vaqueros are set to take on the Texas Longhorns on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The latest D1 baseball rankings were released on Monday with Texas jumping up to the top of the poll from their previous #2 ranking.
It's just one game against the Longhorns, then back to conference play for the Vaqueros.
The matchup is a great measuring stick game for a UTRGV team that hopes to make a deep postseason run.
The Vaqueros are coming in red-hot after completing a sweep against Stephen F. Austin over the weekend.
"You try to get in there and win the game," Vaqueros head coach Derek Matlock said. "And if you can get in the game, we can find a way to win the game late... If we go in there and play really well, we'll give them all they want. It's not against us to beat somebody like that. We've got that good a team, so we just gotta play good."
The Longhorns come into Tuesday with a 29-5 record, ranking second in the nation in team ERA and third in the country in opponent batting average.
