Testimony wrapped up Wednesday with the son of one of the suspects taking the stand.

Though his father’s attorney’s, Arturo Cuellar III was able to point to five specific legal cases presented that showed his dad’s cousin – John Cuellar, helped out in those cases.
Although John Cuellar —a former Weslaco city commissioner — is not on those legal documents, the family was able to know which attorneys to hire for each of the cases involving Jay-III Concrete, which is owned by Arturo “A.C.” Cuellar Jr.
Through that scheme, in which John Cuellar was paid from 2011 through 2014 for consulting work, the federal government argues the payments were used as a bribe to get John Cuellar to vote in favor of two specific companies for these projects.
