Sharyland Residents Confused after Receiving Water Contamination Notice

MISSION – Some Sharyland Water Supply Corporation customers got a notice in the mail, warning them of a contamination level for chlorite.

The chemical is used to help clean water.

The company says the water has been back to normal for months now.

They say the violation happened in January and was fixed almost immediately.

Sharyland Water Supply had to send out the notice months later due to a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality mandate.

The notice says an alternative water supply isn’t necessary but does say infants and children who drink an excess amount of water could experience some nervous system side effects.

The general manager of Sharyland Water Supply says the water has been clean and safe to drink for a while. She says the contamination level was not considered a mass crisis so there was no immediate notification.
