Records show Jose Gael Garcia, 20, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
In a statement, Donna ISD said that the Garcia was not a district employee, but a contracted security guard.
According to the statement, the man — who was later identified as Garcia — drove to the school and appeared to be under the influence. He was detained by district police officers, who found the drugs in his vehicle.
A booking report from the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office lists Garcia's bond as $35,000.

“The safety and security of our students and staff in Donna ISD is always our top priority. On May 16, the Donna ISD Police Department was made aware of and responded to a report that an individual appeared to be under the influence as he pulled into the Donna High School parking lot. The individual was immediately detained and questioned. Upon further investigation, our police department discovered illegal drugs in his vehicle and arrested the individual. At no time did this individual come into contact with our students and the safety of our campus was not compromised. In addition, the individual is not an employee of the district.”
