ROMA - While some are off work today, people who work in law enforcement continue to protect the Rio Grande Valley communities.
Officer Ivan Garza has served for the Roma Police Force for the past four years.
Garza says he finds his work rewarding, which is why he’s devoted to his work.
"Obviously someone has to work the holiday weekends and I have no problem working the holiday weekends,” he says.
Officer Garza says along with the normal duties of a police officer, he also has to work border related crimes.
He says he’s noticed an increase in traffic at the Roma International Bridge; more people are waiting to cross into the U.S.
