EDINBURG – A Progreso police officer accused of sexually assaulting a person while in custody has been arraigned.

Matthew Sepulveda, 24, was charged with sexual assault and civil rights violation of a person in custody.

He was arrested Tuesday in connection to an investigation led by the FBI and the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.

Sepulveda’s bond is set at $225,000.
