BROWNSVILLE – Police are investigating how a man ended up dead inside a burning home in Brownsville.
Fire crews arrived to a home in Pinar Del Rio Ave. at the Brownsville Country Club around 5 p.m.
Brownsville Fire Chief Deputy Cesar Pedraza said the home was engulfed in flames by the time they got to the scene.
Officials said it’s unclear who the person is or how he died.
"When they went inside the home, they did find a 53-year-old male deceased in one of the bedrooms," Brownsville Police Chief JJ Trevino said. "Like I said, at this point, it's considered a death investigation. An autopsy has been ordered."
Trevino said there was no indication of foul play. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
