Police investigating body found in Harlingen

The Harlingen Police Department is working to identify a body found in a field on Wednesday.
A San Benito family says the body is believed to be that of a relative last seen weeks ago.
Harlingen police spokesman Sgt. Larry Moore said the body was found off of Camelot Drive east of the railroad tracks Wednesday at around 1 p.m.
Moore added the body was decomposed and that it was too soon to determine if there are any signs of foul play.
Yvonne Rodriguez Escobedo spoke with Channel 5 News and said she identified the body as that of her mother, Laura Rodriguez Trejo.

Trejo was last seen on Sunday, Sept. 24 at Garcia’s Lounge, a bar near where the decomposed body was found.
Escobedo said the body was identified as that of Trejo through her tattoos and clothing that Trejo was last seen wearing.
Police have yet to confirm the identity of the body.
