More Than 30 Year Partnership Feeding Holiday Meals to Low-Income Valley Families

SAN JUAN – It’s an event to help feed families in-need for more than 30 years. Last year, the Sharing Basket fed more than 5,000 families across the Rio Grande Valley.
Thousands of families will have a Thanksgiving meals thanks to hundreds of Valley volunteers.
This wasn’t always the case in the more than 30-year partnership with Catholic Charities and Peter Piper Pizza.
This effort first started with a handful of volunteers from partnering organizations who saw a need to feed families during the holidays.
The Sharing Basket event takes place Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the San Juan Basillica auditorium.
Visit the Catholic Charities website for information on how to be a volunteer. Also, canned goods can be donated at the nonprofit started Monday, Nov. 25.
