The Vallejo family of Mission received a new home, just in time for Christmas.
The family of three moved into the home on Wednesday that was provided by the Affordable Homes of South Texas
The Vallejos applied to the program for a new home in 2021, and are now the first homeowners in the brand new "Speedy Trails" subdivision.
That subdivision is named after fallen Mission police officer Cpl. Joey “Speedy” Espericueta, who died in the line of duty in 2019.
“It's a way to honor him, and we've worked with the family on developing the subdivision and being able to get family homeowners in here,” Affordable Homes of South Texas Deputy Executive Director Myra Martinez said.
Affordable Homes of South Texas builds between 100 and 120 houses every year.
