Mexican officials received their first sighting of the escaped tiger in Reynosa.
Reynosa Environmental Protection Director Aarón de la Cruz said at around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, they were able to spot the tiger in the area they were setting up traps near Quinta La Fauna.
De la Cruz said crews were following the tiger and attempted to shoot it with a dart, but the animal ran off and hid among several trees.
Earlier in the day, De la Cruz said a rancher reported a paw print of the tiger in the mud and found "a sequence of paw prints" as well.
The escaped animal also reportedly killed some hens.
