A McAllen attorney is no longer the president of a non-profit organization after she was arrested on federal bank fraud charges.
Della Fay Perez appeared in federal court on Wednesday, court records show. She is accused of pocketing hundreds of thousands of dollars meant to go to victims of a Ponzi scheme.
A representative for Angels of Love — a non-profit dedicated to providing services to victims of domestic violence — confirmed to Channel 5 News that Perez is no longer the president of the organization. Her replacement will take over next week.
Perez owns and operates her own law firm in McAllen. The State Bar of Texas website shows she remains eligible to practice law in the state.
Perez is currently out on bond.
