REYNOSA, TAMAULIPAS – A man believed to be a U.S. citizen on the bridge heading back from Reynosa was killed Monday evening on the Mexican side.
Mexico's federal attorney office confirmed the homicide happened around 6:30 p.m. on the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge as the man waited to cross into Hidalgo, Texas. It happened in the part of the road that curves into the entrance to the bridge.
Authorities found a passport belonging to a U.S. citizen who is from Texas, but they are working on confirming his identity. The office believes the man was assaulted with a weapon and killed while he was waiting in his car to cross back to the U.S.
