LYFORD — The city of Lyford gained four new officers after months without a police force.

In October, CHANNEL 5 NEWS reported the department closed after the city lost three officers for better paying jobs.

A new chief, Chief Armin Martinez, signed on two months ago and this week added two regular officers and two reserves to the force. He mentioned four more positions are available.

City leaders used federal grant money from Operation Stone Garden to fund some of the salaries.
