MISSION - 5X5 Brewing has partnered with UTRGV Athletics on a brand new flavor to their popular craft product line. The beer, a kölsch style ale with a blood orange flavor profile made it's debut at the UTRGV baseball game on Friday in Edinburg.
The beer came to be after 5X5 director of operations George Rice called UTRGV Director of Athletics Chasse Conque last spring after 5X5 had a spike in sales in their product sold at the UTRGV baseball stadium during the UTRGV vs. University of Texas baseball game which saw over 6000 fans attend.
In a thank you phone call for carrying the product, Rice and Conque began to brain storm on a signature flavor that would be perfect for spring and summer days at the ball park and warm summers for future UTRGV football tailgates. Work has been done over the last year to perfect the flavor and it is now available.
Rice says this will be used as a way for 5x5 to give back as an athletics donor as a small portion of the proceeds from the sales of Los Vaqueros will go to the athletic department.
