RAYMONDVILLE – A Willacy County voter is back on the rolls after their registration was canceled in February.

A spokesperson for the Texas Secretary of State's office, Sam Taylor, says the county had sent out a "notice of examination" to the Willacy resident.

The notice stated the voter had 30 days to provide proof of citizenship before the registration was dropped.

The county says it mistakenly removed the voter before the 30-day period was complete.

Taylor confirms the voter was since reinstated and is back on the voter rolls.

He advises residents to check with their county voter registrar for registration status to avoid any issues.

"We encourage all voters to regularly check their registration statuses, especially if they've moved or changed their name recently or anything like that. The registration deadline for the upcoming municipal elections is April 4,” says Taylor.

Taylor adds residents can also check registration status on his office's web page.
