MCALLEN – Former detention center employees will face a judge Wednesday.
They're accused of taking contraband into the East Hidalgo Detention Center in La Villa. Erasmo Loya and Veronica Ortega are both set for arraignment.
The GEO Group, the company which runs the jail, told CHANNEL 5 NEWS in a statement:
"We can confirm that all of these employees were terminated from their positions shortly after their arrests. We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as they investigate the matter."
Three other employees also indicted on various charges.
The jail holds detainees for the U.S. Marshals Service and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
