EDINBURG – The community gathered for a prayer vigil for a local trooper Tuesday evening.
State trooper Moises Sanchez was shot on Saturday while on duty and is still fighting to recover.
"We can say that our trooper is in critical condition but he is recovering slowly, so we hope and expect that he recovers here soon," says Department of Public Safety Sgt. Maria Montalvo.
A crowd filled the parking lot outside of the Conference Center at Renaissance to show support.
Officers representing federal agencies, state troopers and the local police department were in attendance.
