Brownsville ISD partnering with aerospace company for STEM program

The Brownsville Independent School District is joining forces with Paragon VTOL Aerospace, the technology company that recently moved to Brownsville.

Through their STEM program, students in grades 9 through 12 can participate in an apprenticeship to gain necessary skills and possibly even land a job after graduation.

Paragon VTOL Aerospace Founder Dwight Smith says the partnership with Brownsville ISD will create on-the-job training experience for students who may already be interested in the idea of working with technology.

“This industry is going to be quite robust,” Smith said. “There will be so much demand for these jobs in the future and so Paragon is investing in these initiatives with these kids.”

Smith said the type of job opportunities available will include pilot, drone pilot, and air traffic controller.
