Brownsville residents lined up Thursday at the Cinemark North Brownsville Dollar Movies 10 for one last movie.
After more than 30 years in business, the theater permanently closed its doors Thursday night.
Angie Galvan was among the moviegoers who showed up during the theater’s last day for one final movie.
“Unfortunately, it's closing down, and I had to come here one last time,” Galvan said. “We all grew up here, it was like the hang-out place, and it's just sad to see it go."
Channel 5 news reached out to Cinemark for comment on the closure. A spokesperson provided the following statement in full:
"Cinemark can confirm it has permanently closed its North Brownsville Dollar Movies 10 theater following the conclusion of its lease term. This closure is normal course of business and the result of the careful and ongoing review of our theater fleet."
