Beto O'Rourke discusses power grid improvements during campaign rally in McAllen

Beto O'Rourke was in McAllen on Friday and launched more criticism at Gov. Greg Abbott for his handling of last year's big freeze.
O'Rourke said - if elected - he would work to connect the state to the national grid and lower the utility bills of Texans through assistance and energy efficiency programs.
"Gov. Abbott has yet to fix the gas supply and to winterize that, and he hasn't done it because the CEOs of the gas supply companies have paid him not to do that,” O'Rourke said.
O'Rourke said that money would come from the $11 billion in profit the oil and gas companies made from that freeze.
"Those who are selling the basic necessities of life cannot charge exorbitant rates to the people of Texas, it is literally against the law,” O'Rourke said.
O'Rourke's stop in the Valley was part of his 20-city tour across the state.
