WESLACO – Authorities have captured the man accused of shooting a woman in San Benito.
Weslaco Police Chief Joel Rivera confirmed with CHANNEL 5 NEWS the arrest of Jose Luis Garcia Jr. around 8 a.m. Thursday morning. The arrest was made after a concerned citizen spotted Garcia at a local restaurant in Weslaco and called police.
Garcia allegedly shot a woman at his home Wednesday morning.
The responding officers found the woman had been shot several times on her body and once in her face.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
Weslaco police are working to transfer Garcia to San Benito police custody.
