Here's a list of events happening around the Rio Grande Valley this holiday weekend:

City of Pharr

The city of Pharr will host its annual Independence Day Festival on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Jones Box Park (1201 W. Rosa Ln.) from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The festival will include family-friendly activities, live music, food, and a fireworks show display at 9 p.m. The festival and parking are free. City of Harlingen 

The city of Harlingen will host Freedom Fest on Saturday, July 3 at Lon C. Hill Destination Park located at 1217 Fairpark Blvd from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The festival will include live music, a free car show, an adult beverage garden, food trucks and kid activities such as free face painting and balloon caricatures. City of McAllen

The city of McAllen will host Independence Day Celebration activities on Saturday, July 3 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can watch it live on MCN 1300 Spectrum or at www.mcallen.net. Festivities include a patriotic program at 8 a.m., followed by a parade at 9 a.m. and then a concert at 9 p.m. For more information, click here.

City of South Padre Island

 The City of South Padre Island Parks and Keep SPI Beautiful will host its annual Fourth of July Beach Parade for the community and visitors. Friends of Animal Rescue will start the parade. At the end, watermelon, bottled water, and other goodies will be given out while supplies last. This family and pet-friendly event will be the highlight of your holiday!
