KRGV-TV5 in Weslaco, Texas has the following vacancy: Evening Spanish News Anchor

KRGV Channel 5 News and KRGV 5.2 Noticias RGV is looking for a dynamic Spanish Language News Anchor for our flagship newscasts Monday – Friday on Noticias RGV.

 

KRGV and Noticias RGV is the largest news operation in South Texas in any language. Our newscasts produce 66+ hours of news every week in both English and Spanish.  Noticias RGV is the only Spanish language station with a 2-hour morning and 2-hour noon newscasts.  

 

The McAllen-Brownsville area is the 11th largest Hispanic market in the country.

 

We are looking for an engaging and personable anchor to help lead our evening newscasts. 

The successful candidate is someone who is a team player and leader who will work with young reporters to help bring high quality and engaging storytelling stories to our growing audience.

As anchor, you must have excellent interviewing skills, and a proven ability to skillfully ad lib in any live/breaking news situation. 

As anchor, you will work with the producer to find engaging topics and help create a conversation during the newscast, as well as writing creative headlines and teases.

From time to time you may be asked to fill-in anchoring on other newscasts as needed as well as on scene live anchoring, covering breaking/spot news, general news, and occasional feature stories.

  

The anchor must also develop and maintain a network of news sources, providing access to exclusive local news stories. As anchor, you are a team leader and should understand that the job doesn’t end when the TV show ends.

 

This position is Full Time

 

Requirements

·         Must be 100% fluent in Spanish with excellent verbal and written skills.

·         Bilingual in Spanish/English.

·         BA or BS in Journalism, Communications or Political Science preferred.

·         Must possess a minimum of 2 years television anchor and or on-air live reporter experience.

·         Frequent use of social media for news gathering/disseminating and community engagement

·         Able to handle working under the pressure of intense deadlines.

·         Have the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.

·         Develop contacts and relationships in the community
